What's new?

We are phasing out peat moss with the plants we grow. Heather loves peat, but it is not considered a renewable resource. In the 3- 1/4” pots, we are now using the last of the peat mix cut with Tagro soil mix which is composted sludge mix made by the City of Tacoma, Washington. In the gallons, we are using the Tagro mix with bark to get the correct pH. By next year, the peat mix will be used up, and we will be using all Tagro and bark. Tagro encourages healthy root growth and larger caliper stems. There is no topdressing with fertilizers as the sludge lasts for 1-2 years. We use fabric pot covers on most pots, so we use no herbicides. However, our suppliers grow the standard way, so not all our plants are naturally grown. If this is important to you, we can pick only those plants produced naturally for you. Just ask.
We also use recycled pots from the community. We are doing everything we can to have no impact on the waterways we drain directly into which are Puget Sound and Spencer Lake. |
